Three short exercises from me

Exercise 1. I’m Good At…

As Nicky said, you’re not starting this new stage of your career entirely from scratch – you’re bringing loads of skills and experience with you. So it’s time to start bigging yourself up. I’d love you to have a go at finishing each of the below sentences…

One thing I’m really good at is …

People love it when I …

I feel good when I …

I’m proud of the fact that I can …

Others have said that I’m great at …

Exercise 2. I’ll Need Help With…

While it’s important to acknowledge what you’re great at, it’s also normal to have areas you find more difficult or will need help with. So let’s have a look at them, too. Again, please complete the sentences…

I struggle with …

So I know I’ll need help with …

I could get this from …

Exercise 3. Fake it till you make it

At some stage, you’ll be succeeding in your chosen field so you won’t need to ‘fake’ anything. But while you’re working towards that, it can help to imagine you’re already there. You can do this by writing out some positive affirmations and saying them aloud. Some examples of the positive statement I was saying and writing out before being on the path I’m now on were:

I am a full-time writer.

I write articles for a living.

I’m a published author.

Yours might start with:

I can …

I do …

I am …

Can you write out three?
