Exercise 1: Write a blog post

I’d like you to write a blog post. You could be responding to a news story, or writing something about yourself and your role in the industry. Blog posts should be around 600-800 words – this plays into people’s short attention spans and Google likes when people read the whole article rather than getting bored and disappearing from your website after the first paragraph (the algorithm times how long they stay. So if you can write a long, really engaging piece, even better – but usually, 600 words is enough. For now, though, write one 600-800-word post, with a header and a ‘snippet’. If you have a blog – upload it once you’ve have a good proofread. If you don’t have a blog, you can still do this exercise and it will be the first piece of content for when you do have one.

You opted for the self-paced course, but if you’ve decided you’d quite like some feedback on this exercise, it’s not too late. I can offer email consultation – detailed feedback on your homework, plus suggestions and edits.
