I run as the sun rises and gaze, in awe, at the fields and meadows covered in a thin sheet of frost, like a lemon drizzle cake under icing sugar. On the walk to school, we see a hill in the distance, formed by ancient seas. Now, it is shrouded in clouds. We stroll through a park scattered with crocuses and snowdrops and daffodils. I love spotting the new flowers, as they bloom. After kissing my children goodbye, I march back up the hill and hear chickens clucking in a front garden. I remember a time when I dreamed of this being my life. I forget all other dreams, desires, wants and needs, and stay focused on the ‘now’ and feel grateful.
