Working freelance or running a small business can be lonely. It’s all on you: decisions, responsibility. Well, I can help; I’ll be your pocket consultant. You can ask me anything, work-related, and I’ll get back to you promptly. Whether it’s bouncing around ideas, PR, social media, a course or book idea, creating online content – email me, and I’ll help…
One of the hardest things about freelancing or running a small business is having no colleagues; no one to bounce ideas around with.
You might wake up with grand plans to start something new and then feel deflated and unsure by mid-morning.
What you need is someone with experience to ask the questions to as and when they arise. A weekly appointment doesn’t always cut it; we move so fast with the online world.
I’ve been there. I’ve felt lonely, frustrated and unmotivated. I’ve had all the questions and no answers.
But I’m now in a position to help.
If you would like support as a freelancer and/or business owner, I’m offering a small group of people the opportunity to have unlimited email consultancy with me on a monthly basis.
If you’d like advice on how to structure your work day, pitching your business for press coverage, getting more social media followers, naming your book or online course, structuring it, raising your day rate, blogging, creating online content – anything work-related, I will be your pocket consultant.
As soon as a question comes to mind, email me.
When you have a new idea, run it past me.
You can email me whenever you like and I’ll get back to you promptly with reassurance, guidance, answers, advice. I will be the person you can moan to and share successes with; the person I needed at the start – and still do, actually.
I’m charging just £350 for this unlimited email consultancy. I charge more than that for two hours of consultancy so this is incredibly good value. And if you sign up today, you can get started right away.
There’s potential for you to ask so many questions. If you’re on a course, ask me anything you like about that. If you’re not, we can keep it more general.
“What’s so refreshing about Annie’s email consultancy is that she holds nothing back; if she’s got some insight or experience that might help you, she’ll hand it over lock, stock and barrel. She’s down-to-earth and authentic – no selling of pipe dreams here – and she’s clearly genuinely motivated by a passion to help other women build working lives that work for them. Imaging summoning the courage to ask someone you admire for the recipe for their secret sauce – Annie invites you round, opens the wine, and rolls her sleeves up to show you how to make it.” Heidi Scrimgeour
I’m Annie Ridout – author of The Freelance Mum (published January 2019 by Harper Collins imprint 4th Estate), SHY (out January ’21) and Twenty-nine: Poems on Motherhood (self-published). I’m also a freelance journalist (Guardian, Forbes, Grazia, Telegraph), editor of The Early Hour and speaker (panel talks, BBC radio and TV). More below…
Over the past five years spent running a business and freelancing, I’ve learned a lot. I’ve made shitloads of mistakes and I’ve had big successes. I’m now supporting a family of five and have enough money leftover each month to put a chunk into savings. Life feels good. Balanced.
And the part of my work I like best is helping others to achieve this work-life. That’s what my book The Freelance Mum was about, and it’s the focus of all my online courses: how to start of grow your own business, while maintaining time for yourself and family/friends.
It’s why I set up a private Facebook group (that you’ll have access to when you buy any online course, or consultancy), so that we can all share tips and advice.
Now I love the idea of helping people through email. Writing is my thing – send a question, I’ll respond. Simple.
Please note I can’t proof or edit long pieces of writing. And by email, I mean the written word. No voice messages, please. This is email consultancy: ask the questions by email, I’ll give you the answers.
